Jet Propulsion Laboratory
"Do not go where the path may lead," wrote Ralph Waldo Emerson. "Go instead where there is no path, and leave a trail." That could be the motto of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Trailblazing has been the business of JPL since it was established by the California Institute of Technology in the 1930s. America's first satellite, Explorer 1, was created at JPL. In the decades that followed, JPL sent the first robotic craft to the Moon and out across the solar system, reconnoitering all of the planets. Pushing the outer edge of exploration, in fact, is the reason JPL exists as a NASA laboratory.

Oracle Newsroom
Oracle.com rolled out a new virtual press room (www.pressroom.oracle.com) . The new press room runs on a combination of Oracle Database, Oracle SES, and Siderean Software's Seamark Navigator "semantic Web" engine. The new press room permits you to "fly" though the data--you can follow content relationships that you otherwise would not know exist. Think of it as an "interactive" search process, with the relevant keywords being supplied to you, instead of the other way around.

OTN Semantic Web
OTN Semantic Web, now in Beta release, is a proof-of-concept application that demonstrates the use of RDF (Resource Description Framework)-based "Semantic Web" technology as the basis for a user experience that relies on dynamic relational navigation as well as Ajaxian user interfaces.

Joseph T. Tennis, Assistant Professor at The University of British Columbia, along with Mark Jordan and Brian Owen of Simon Fraser University's WAC Bennett Library and Brad Allen at Siderean Software, have established the Dublin Core Conference Paper Repository. The repository provides access to the papers and posters delivered at DCMI Conferences from 2002 through 2004. Addition of the papers of DC-2005 is expected very soon. Built on open source software (MySQL, Linux, and Apache Tomcat) and displayed through Siderean Software's Seamark faceted navigation, this Repository offers the metadata community a focused and easy access to these papers. Access is available through the link to “Conference Papers” in the left-hand navigation bar on the DCMI Home page.
